About Teacher

Salbot Serge

サルボ セルジュ

A Frenchman born in Paris in 1967.

In 1994, he moved to Japan and started living in Karuizawa.

He opened the "Salbot French Language School" at Akane-ya Coffee Shop near Komazawa Park in Setagaya-ku, Tokyo.

Having raised two children, he excels in teaching kids.

Over the years, he taught numerous students, many of whom can now be found living all over the world.

In 2018, the school relocated to Matsubara, Setagaya-ku.

His wife, Kyoko Salbot is a culinary artist. The French lessons take place in the same premises as her cooking lessons. Sometimes the scent of delicious cooking fills the air. Some students take part in Mrs. Salbot’s cooking lessons alongside the French lessons.

He has loved Japan since his time in France and has always been fond of Japanese films. Every summer vacation, he watches TV as he sheds tears to dramas such as "Kita no Kuni Kara" and "Wataru Seken wa Oni Bakari".

Before the pandemic, he used to plan trips to France, offering experiences in French language, lifestyle, culture, and introducing delicious restaurants with his wife, Kyoko Salbot as the guide.

Although he can speak fluent Japanese, he continues to study and improve his Japanese skills, aiming to pass the Japanese Language Proficiency Test Level 1.

“If having the qualities of a teacher and making a sincere effort to work with each person is what makes a good teacher, I feel it is a calling for my husband Serge, who has practiced it day and night for many years. I recommend Serge's lessons to everyone.”
